The Richmond-area is home to some of the world's best institutes of higher education, in addition to a proud number of local public and private schools. Among the universities that call Richmond home, Virginia Commonwealth University is the largest. As a leader in the central-Virginia educational market, VCU supports a medical college (MCV) and an engineer school, in addition to a widely recognized Liberal Arts college. Not to be overlooked, the smaller, private, University of Richmond educates some of the nation's best collegiate students. Richmond is also home for Virginia State University and a number of smaller community college and technical school systems.
In addition to the opportunities for higher education, the Richmond-area supports a large communitiy of public and private schools. Testing information for these schools is often found on the school's primary website, but can also be obtained by contacting the individual school, or the county department of education. The State SOL testing also provides a "school benchmark" through which comparisons can be drawn.
