Any geographical location populated for more than 400-years is bound to have it's share of local history. In Richmond, Virginia, we are not only proud of our own local history, but our national significance aswell.
Of the many famous citizens of Richmond, Edgar Allen Poe is among the most widely known, though it is not so widely known that this poet maintained a Richmond-residence for many years. His former abode has been transformed into a museum and local attraction.
Richmond is also home to another extraordinary attraction, The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts houses an outstanding art collection spanning some 6,000 years. The collection at the Arts Museum noteably includes pieces in Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Impressionism, post-Impressionism, Contemporary, American, Classical, Byzantine, African, Egyptian, Chinese, Japanese, Tibetan, Nepalese, and Indian styles. Although these portions of the museum's collection are sufficient to draw crowds on their own, the large collection Faberge eggs are the museum's true pride.
